I think Henry Dimbleby needs to read this...

I hear you! Seriously though, how do we stop all this rhetoric? It’s absolutely everywhere, with anyone and everyone wading in with their fat phobic non-scientific nonsense. I find it terrifying and I’m so angry about it all of the time!!! I am interested if you’ve read Kimberley Wilson’s book ‘unprocessed’? She’s someone who always struck me as being trustworthy and knowledgeable, and so I’m really hoping she hadn’t sold out to the headlines, and there’s some solid research in the book, I’d be interested to know what you think if you’ve read it...(I haven’t yet)

This is exactly it. It’s so upsetting that these people don’t see that, it’s all that is wrong with the world - people’s inability to consider and make space for folk from all walks of life. They just want to heap on more and more shame

I'd be interested to know what conditions the people in that study were under for those two weeks as well - were all those meals made and provided for them on the unprocessed weeks? Were they also working and/ or carrying out all their normal life admin/ caring responsibilities whilst they were in the study? How you eat during two weeks away from home with someone providing your meals would be pretty different to how you'd eat during your day-to-day life, even with the arbitrary unprocessed/ processed binary imposed.

Yes! Thanks so much for this - I see the same fear in my students when we talk about food and the text books do not help in that regard either. Having read this I will definitely delve deeper into the topic to be able to not just help my students uncover the ways that the rhetoric shapes their perception but can also discuss this with my colleagues and use these arguments as well. Cheers!😇
